Entitlement Nation

Entitlement-nation is a phrase I recently heard our new Treasurer Joe Hockey use in a speech regarding the first forays from Tony Abbot & his cronies to begin eroding Pensions in a new rationalization scheme.

And only just in office too...'Tis a good thing that ole Tony knows his priorities.

My...how breathlessly unimaginative of poor ole Hockey... that this; 'stripping Pensioners', is his grand economic vision for a better Australia...the sheer intellectual poverty of this first bold stroke for a better Oz is embarrassing, and sadly only confirms what we already knew...

The phrase 'entitlement state' or nation is one which I have heard so often in Republican camps, that it has become a foundational girder of their Party platform.

Whenever someone mentions expenditure on the Poor or disabled, etc., the reply is always:

"So What? You want to create an Entitlement State? You are just Enabling them to stay unemployed!" "How are these people ever to pick themselves up, out of the mire, and aspire for a better Life when you offer them hand outs?"

"You just 'enable' people to stay poor if you give them hand-outs!"

"Its the old American spirit of get up and go which has made this country great...and so on ad nauseum...

'Entitlements' in any corrupt State, always go to the ones who have the most Money i.e influence, of course, hence we have enormous subsidies all over the World paid in Billions to the Oil & Fracking Industry which is destroying our unique and irreplaceable home.

Subsidies and tariff-breaks and one-time only sweet-heart Trade Deals to the Corporations.

Meanwhile its cold gruel and austerity measures I'm afraid for the rest of us...across both sides of the Atlantic and now arriving on our continental shores here in Oz...But what do we matter?

After all...We are only the People which the Government is meant to serve...

We are only the 99%...

Hah! How absurd that we currently allow 85 individuals to own as much as one half of the entire world's population.

We are in serious trouble unless we Unite...

The American Republicans often preach from their pulpits about not wanting an entitlement State in a mantra-like fashion...over and over on an endless tape-loop, it pours from the mouths of those incredibly irritating plastic puppets on Foxnews and its ilk.

This is patently absurd, as that is exactly what they have created for over 4 decades in America.

There has been a steady shift away from corporate taxes, in other words a form of  'Corporate Welfare', and towards heavier taxes on individuals for well over 40 years in America....

This has been an intentional conspiracy no less, on the part of the Corporatocracy, which has, a newly minted powerful manifestation as it stomps across the face of Gaia...which is approaching the God-like, enmeshed as it is, with the Military-Industrial Complex and certainly too big, always too big to fail.

The new-speak across the Globe is to use the phrase 'Austerity measures' which have become unexpectedly, and so unfortunately, necessary.

They are apparently so terribly sorry, and will pour more Money into the Bankers coffers to make up for it I'm sure, with another well-seasoned round of Quantitative Easing.

This silent stripping of the People's wealth has spread, like a poison in the vine, accompanying Global Capitalism all over the World, as the Corporations continue to buy the legislation, and continue in their quest to rape the Earth of profits...

General Electric for example last year made a Profit of so many Millions ($67 Mill from memory) just on their Tax Bill i.e they paid a negative tax bill due to Corporate Subsidies and Tax Breaks.

This is where the Money is leaking out in an ever greater flood...To the Richest 1%, and they are screaming out for MORE...

They need lower taxes to stimulate our Economy....

Apparently they care!!!

The trouble is, their BS theory of trickle-down economics doesn't work!

It never did.

To stimulate the economy you need to put the Money in the hands of consumers...so that they can SPEND!!!

Even that good ole boy from down south George Bush knew that...

You stimulate growth from the ground up!

Any Gardener will tell you that, and yet we continue to hear nonsense by so-called Media experts and pundits, i.e the 'talking heads' or clowns as I prefer, babbling away on the Western media, and here on our own, unfortunately compromised ABC, about encouraging the Capitalists, the entrepreneurs to stimulate growth back into the economy.

This will never be achieved by repeating the mistakes of the last 40 years or so in America, and it certainly won't be achieved by impoverishing the People into requiring Food Stamps, or as in Australia ala Joe Hockey, by going after the Pensioners with a so-called 'rationalization' of the Pension fund.
